Derek is a gambler of some 30 years. Many years ago he realised that he needed to bet systematically and after many ups and downs buying systems he decided to set his own needs out clearly and design his own system, one tailored to his own needs. This was over 10 years ago and after going down many blind alleys he finally came up with a winner.

His Perfect System

The list of requirements that Derek set himself would be applauded by other system followers. His primary need was a system with no long losing runs, the thing universally hated by all gamblers. Highly Selective with Short Losing Runs

The biggest shortcoming of this system, or the best feature depending on how you look at it, is the small number of bets, around one each week. On the other hand with winning runs up to 8 you can go two months without a loser. The system does have losers but the longest run in two and a half years is 5. More than half the bets win (54%), 94 winners from 174 bets, and the average winning bet is between 6/4 and 13/8. He has not totally eliminated odds-on selections but what few there are are very successful with only one losing so far.

If you want more bets and are prepared to accept the risk of longer losing runs then the system can be adapted simply by accepting slightly higher priced horses as qualifiers. This would also have the effect of increasing the average winning price.

This is a robust system that wins about twice as much as it loses. In the first 174 bets, there have been 94 winners and 80 losers. To bets of £100 that is £8000 in lost bets but the winners brought in £14,562 giving a health £6,562 level stake profit.

Aggressive Staking Plan Option

With a longest losing run of 5 then you must ask whether the system is suitable for aggressive staking plans such as betting 10% of your bank each time you place a bet. If you had tried this staking plan over the same two and a half year period then your £100 bank starting with £10 bets would now be worth £15,253. If you had been a little braver and started with £1000 bank with a first bet of £100 you would be richer now to the tune of £152,536. You would have also had to have a strategy for laying big bets by this time.

Along side the results are the profit calculations in two columns. The first column represents the profits achieved using £100 level stakes. In the right hand column are the profits achieved using a staking plan where one tenth of the bank is bet each time and starting with a bank of just £100 with the first bet being £10.
